Jordan Askill, ex-Ksubi designer and current jewelery designer now takes on sculpture. From the Maker of chains dangling translucent boy heads, and treacherous roses perched on ring bands, the art is guaranteed to be something "new". Wiiild horses...

VENEZIA OTTOBRE 1994
Movement- the suggestion of motion in a work of art, either by represented gesture in figurative painting or sculpture or by the relationship of structural elements in a design or composition.
A small crack in the off-white broken up wall, the scratches on the unevenly tiled floor, hundred of pigeons; lounging and then swiftly taking flight... all create a sense of movement. It is the contrast between the beautiful silhouette of Monica Bellucci and the rash city streets that define this editorial. From Vogue Italia 1994.

Limi Feu's s/s 09 Headphones
A couple of days a go, I was browsing through the S/S 09 collections again. In the fashion world, s/s 09 collections came out a century ago (October), but since the collections were created with the seasons of Spring and Summer in mind, I thought I would take another look. Then I remembered reading about Limi Feu's technological princess Leia headphones. They're definitely one of the more interesting accessories on board for S/S 09. So I ask you... what's better? Little plastic buds wedged into your ear canal, or Scandinavian style braids on either side or your head, pumping your Soulwax? A future DJ trend, or non?

Thierry Mugler
One of my favorite designer shows to watch in video format is Thierry Muglar. The vibrancy of the models and the whole attitude is just so invigorating. the models are not just hangers of garments, but women acting. Today, models stomp towards the crowd on that lengthy runway with an angry face. In the 1990's, Thierry Muglar's models activated the show. This is how fashion should make one feel. Not angry and hungry like today's models. So, not only are his shows great, but look at the construction of his garments! Incredible...

Bottega Veneta Resort 2010
It's that time of the year again! Resort collection time! The intriguing thing about the resort collections is that they are known to bring in higher profits than other other collection, though there a few designers who present resort collections. But, oh, how I love Bottega Veneta. Really, it's Commercial luxury innovated by the slightest minor details, wrapped together and put in luxurious little box. It's heavy idealism of Italian fashion. This particular resort collection holds much color for Botegga Veneta; it's oranges, reds, and pinks vs. the standard nudes and blacks. Così bello!

Emma Peel
Emma Peel- super spy! Played by Diana Rigg, she was the shining star of the 1960's adventure series, The Avengers. Emma Peel is amazing for a number of reasons, of course, one of the most important being her sense of style. Emma Peel's op-art based clothing was constructed of lines, circles, and psychedelic patterns - never worn before on television, because of the belief that they would not look proper on television. The eclectic perception of Emma Peel was heightened by the fact that she drove a Lotus Elan convertible at high speeds. It's quintessential mod. But also, her notable feminist characteristics. This girl eschewed the "damsel in distress" portrayal of women.

A Summer Blend
With the new airiness of Summer comes the flighty summer editorials. I'm not talking about bathing suits spreads in Seventeen, but I am more talking about the ethereal beauty that Vogue Italia brings in every issue, especially during those dusty Spring months leading into Summer. From Vogue Italia May 2009:

Marchesa Casati
The infamous and eccentric Italian heiress, muse, and patroness of the arts in early 20th century Europe. She was painted by Giovanni Boldini, Augustus John, Kees Van Dongen, Romaine Brooks and Ignacio Zuloaga; sketched by Drian, Alberto Martini and Alastair; sculpted by Giacomo Balla, Catherine Barjansky and Jacob Epstein; and photographed by Man Ray, Cecil Beaton and Baron Adolph de Meyer. And two days ago, she stood as the icon of beauty in Chanel's 2010 Cruise collection. Ahh, I love Venice in the Spring time.
