Quintessentially British - the Luella brand gives depth to age old girly punk. If there's one relatively new brand that can create such a trickle down effect- such a way of catering high fashion to the masses- it's Luella. From the London runways to the pre-teens across the street. Last year it was graphic teeshirts, fake nerd glasses, and leather bombers. This year it's ruffles and frills, tweed and bows. Luella will be having it's first pre-spring show this coming Fall, a severe indication that the brand plans to take things to an even more commercial level. I just hope this collection is better than Fall 09!

Friday's cupcakes

Eyes will pop, glitter will be everywhere, fun will be HAD... the day the world as one eats cupcakes together. Take a little advice from John Lennon and imagine- peace via cupcakes.

Classiques? vous avez dit classique?

No! You said clear casts of classic quilted bags littered with ipods and compacts galore. An epitome of the translucent world of glamor. Half intimidating; feared, untouchable - half covered in a thin coat of paint that will dissolve under immense water pressure. If Chanel's clear bags were not the most shocking things K Lagerfeld sent down the runway, it was the Ziggy Stardust- esque jumpsuits that were, conjuring up images of David Bowie himself in zig zagged spandex. Freak out in a moonage daydream?

Indian princess, queen of the Nile, Maharani; Lakshmi Menon drips chains of gold. Festivity and revelry amount to an insane amount of crazy cool aesthetic in Dazed and Confused's April 2009 issue. Quite the gala of over accessorizing. This is like Sikh Maharaja reinvented.

Casa Campanini

Built and designed between the years of 1904 and 1906 by Alfredo Camapanini, all of Casa Campanini's interior has been preserved. The dripping details celebrate the revelry of art noveau. Statues emerge from the wall of the building, welcoming whatever comes their way. Into a fiery feast of green florals. Go, go, go...

Vogue Italia March 2009

There's something about wild leopards in fashion editorials that makes the whole concept 1000x more exciting. Bringing the very idea to the next level - aborted models standing around in couture while wild cats transcend the subordinate pale and bony faces. What could be better? Only a Narwhal and Kate Moss combo.

Doll parts

I love the Hedi Slimane diary. I love it,
especially these Courtney Love grunge and glamor pictures. Hedi Slimane can transform the average black and white photograph into something terrifically superb. The textured background juxtaposes the rigidness created by the distinctive heavy rock elan - in a word or two- Courtney Love.

Si, la couture m'etait contee

When an editorial is almost 15 years old and it's still modern, I think that says something. In this editorial photographed by the infamous David Lachapelle, models appear in renaissance paintings, stand on historical buildings, and lay in perfectly groomed gardens of which are severed into architectural lines; movement for the eyes. My favorite is probably the one where the model gratifyingly stands upon the decadent crown, her dress cascading to the side. From Vogue Paris september 1995:
