Accessories at Chanel F2010

What I loved most about the latest Chanel show were the frost-bitten accessories. There was more fur than ever, as well as more icicle-like baubles that spread across the span of model's whole hand. The classic quilted bag was expertly frozen to look like it belonged to the ice age. On the whole, the accessories were a glacier of decadence which represented moving forward and having fun. Global warming, be gone!

I Love MoMA in the spring time

A couple of months ago, i did a post about MoMA and it's interesting and innovative jewelery. I recently received the Spring catalog, and I think it's official, MoMA is one of my favorite places to find strange jewelery. Unexpected, but so worth investigating if you like this kind of stuff. From sculptural rings made using the Japanese shibori process (Issey Miyake, anyone?), crystal broaches crafted by Parisian textile designers, and surprisingly lifelike chains of blown glass eerily representing bubbles (they look so much better in the catalog) MoMA has it all.

Zac Posen x Pamela Anderson

Posen's collection appealed to me because of the grandeur of the fabrics; the escalated elegance, despite the recession (that seemed to affect all other fashion shows but his). Black and gray were definitely prominent colors, but they did not make one have the feeling of wanting to say in all day. It was rather the opposite; his clothes make one want to go out ballroom dancing! Something I've noticed about his shows, a good thing, is that he shows a lot of diversity in his models. People from all different places, all different races. It makes the show beautiful. Perhaps the best part of the collection? The Pamela Anderson collaboration. Studded braids adorned the models heads as dainty floral earrings with small or very very large spikes emerging from the bottom swung from the models delicate ears.

Austrian Artist Egon Schiele's work is noted for its brilliant intensity. The twisted body shapes and the expressive lines that characterize Schiele's paintings and drawings mark the artist as an early expressionist, but he is also strongly connected to the art nouveau movement. He was born in the year of 1890 and died on 31 October 1918, at the age of only 28. I find it interesting how modern some of his work looks.









I don't know where this picture can from, but it's been in my files for a while. I don't know what kind of tree this is, or if it's even a real tree. But I have decided that I want to plant a thousand of them surrounding my house. It would be incredible.




I never really liked earrings until I saw Christian Lacroix's s/s 2009 Couture collection. Now, I'm on the lookout for any humongous earrings I can find.

*Jaw drops* Yves Saint Laurent's rings are amazing. They're kind of avant-garde. Some of them resemble coral reef, while the gold one looks like a little glamorous pile of golden mushrooms. And I can't believe they're less expensive than Roberto Cavalli's rings (They're all under $200). Where have these been all of my life?!
