Limi Feu's s/s 09 Headphones

A couple of days a go, I was browsing through the S/S 09 collections again. In the fashion world, s/s 09 collections came out a century ago (October), but since the collections were created with the seasons of Spring and Summer in mind, I thought I would take another look. Then I remembered reading about Limi Feu's technological princess Leia headphones. They're definitely one of the more interesting accessories on board for S/S 09. So I ask you... what's better? Little plastic buds wedged into your ear canal, or Scandinavian style braids on either side or your head, pumping your Soulwax? A future DJ trend, or non?

Junya Wantanabe s/s 2009 vs. Carmen Miranda

I was watching this Carmen Miranda video and I was reminded of the Junya Wantanabe s/s 2009 collection. Even though the models wear flowers/grass/whatever that is, I still see a resemblance to Carmen Miranda's fruit hats. For those of you know don't know, Carmen Miranda is a Portuguese born Brazilian samba singer and actress most popular in the 1940s and 1950s. She appeared in motion pictures- always clad with a hat topped with tropical fruit- for which she is iconically known for til this day.

Honestly, who cares about the Super Bowl when the best fashion week of the year (couture week) just happened? Hahaha...

I love this funky video showcasing Margiela's latest. It's almost scary.

I thought the Chanel show was okay. The best part were the headdresses of paper roses, camellias, leaf fronds, and feathers that adorned each model. Hairstylist Katsuya Kamo created the headdresses for the show. It only took him and six or seven helpers, three weeks, and two packets of 11 x 17 office paper. Isn't that amazing?

It's the details I love the most! Dior:

During this couture week in Paris, there are currently two questions going around; "What are your inspirations?" and, "And what do you think about the recession?"
For the first answer Mr. Galliano says his inspirations are "Flemish painters and Monsieur Dior,"
And, what does he think about the recession? "There's a credit crunch, not a creative crunch. Of course, everyone is being more careful with their discretionary purchases. I am. But it's our job to make people dream, and to provide the value in quality, cut, and imagination." Well said.

The Dior Couture collection was a beautiful blend of Van Dyck, Vermeer, and Galliano himself.

Tattoo

I would never get a tattoo. But if someone forced me to, if it was a life or death situation... then I would definitely get something that looks like these lacy bracelet things crawling up the models' arms. I think that would be extremely cool. Mystic.
